• School trust lands occupy 3.3 million acres of the land in Utah. The land was granted at statehood by the federal government for the support of public schools.

  • The school trust lands are managed by the School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (SITLA). Billions of cubic feet of gas were produced from these lands last year to warm our water, cook our food, and support our schools.

  • Revenue from the land is invested by the School Trust Fund Office. The annual land revenue coupled with the investment makes the fund grow larger each year. As the fund grows larger so does the annual distribution. The distribution each year funds the School LAND Trust Program in every public school in Utah.

  • School Community Councils decide how to improve academic achievement for their students with their portion of the annual dividend distributed through the School LAND Trust Program.
