To order stickers to identify purchases you have made through the School LAND Trust Program, Click HereLakeside Elementary will continue to focus on reading, using Accelerated Reader and STAR software programs to motivate reading. The AR program motivates students to read. It reinforces comprehension, critical thinking, context, recall, and test-taking skills. Students will be tested three times during the year using the STAR Reading Assessment to determine reading growth. Parents will be informed of results during SEP conferences. Students, teacher, and parents will also evaluate AR goals at each conference. Funds will be used to purchase materials, AR tests, books, incentives, to cover costs of special activities and to hire a part-time facilitator to administer the program. Lakeside will also focus on math throughout the school year using math-tracking software, many classroom math activities, and will hold a culminating activity--Family Math Night when students, teacher, and families will come together in a rotation of many math-related activities and exercises. Bulletin boards throughout the school will be centered on math concepts One-minute math ideas will presented to teachers at faculty meetings. The goal is to improve math skills for all students. Funds will be used to purchase calculators, math manipulatives math software, and materials for Family Math Night. The math tracking software will reflect the skills learned and the proficiency of each student. Inventory of each student will take place as the classroom teachers perform student assessments, completes rubrics for portfolios, and observes individual student's math skills.
11. How does this plan relate to the school improvement/strategic plan?
All students will participate in the Accelerated Reader, STAR, and math activities. Teachers, parents, and students will meet at SEP conferences to evaluate goals and find success. Student information in reading and math will be included in student portfolios, and individual assessment will be maintained for student assessments, such as pre/post testing, Qualitative Reading Inventories, daily math fact practice, and standardized tests.
