School Plan Description: |
| 3. a |
What will be done and how the money will be spent to improve student academic performance. |
| |
Enhancing reading and language usage are our main academic goals.
We want all students to achieve a minimum of one year growth as measured by
NWEA.
We also want to increase student interaction via the use of smart classroom
technology.
We will facilitate professional learning communities within our school while at
the same time increase the well being of our students through the hiring of a
P.E. or art specialist. |
| 3. b |
Specific goals for student improvement. |
| |
We will hire a p.e. or art and computer specialist to help give our teachers
time to meet in professional learning communities. If funds allow we will also
hire a reading tutor to give below level students more one on one time with an
adult. This will also enhance student development in art or health.
We will further enhance our leveled library books and start a take home leveled
library.
We will purchase the online DIBELS component to track our student reading
progress @ $1.00 per student.
We will purchase Activor, Activslate and Activwand as money, will allow. This
will enhance student interaction within the classroom with Promethean
Activiboards.
We will purchase and pilot other reading and writing assessments as they become
available or recommended by other educational experts.
We will pursue the study of "Classroom Assessment for Student Learning: Doing
It Right-Using It Well" and associated materials by Rick Stiggins, Judith Arter,
Stephen Chappuis, and Jan Chappuis.
|
| 3. c |
How academic improvement will be measured or assessed. |
| | We will use the NWEA as our main assessment tool. Our goal is to be above the
50th percentile in the nation in growth.
We will use the Fountas and Pinnell benchmark assessment system in the first
grade.
We will use the Rigby assessment system.
We will use DIBELS assessment system. We will use assessments from what we have
learned from "Classroom Assessment for Student Learning: Doing It Right-Using
It
Well" and associated materials by Rick Stiggins, Judith Arter, Stephen
Chappuis,
and Jan Chappuis. |
| 3. d |
If distributed funds are greater than estimated, the school will spend the money to implement goals as follow: |
| | We would like to purchase handheld microphones for student use to augment our
Audio Enhancement classrooms @ $200.00 a piece.
Any additional funds will be spent to purchase additional books and materials
to support teaching and learning in the area of reading/language arts. We will
also consider additional tools and training materials in classroom assessment. |
| 4 |
This is how the plan relates to the School Improvement Plan: |
| | The school improvement plan addresses the same area of reading and language
arts. |
| 5. |

School's identified most critical need(s) addressed in this plan: Please check only the primary area(s). Improvement in some academic areas may improve all other academic areas but if the goal is to improve reading or technology, only check that area. |
| |
Mathematics
Reading
Technology
Health/PE
Professional Development
|
| |
List the most critical academic area identified by the school community council (or committee for charter schools) and explain why the area has been selected. Remember, the law requires that the area must be the "most critical academic need." |
| |
The money will be spent to pay educational experts in the field of math and
reading to inservice teachers or send teachers to national PLC conference.
Educational books will also be purchased. |
| 3. |
Briefly describe the School LAND Trust Plan. Plans should be research based and
include specific quantifiable measurements.
|
| |
Academic Goals:
Enter specific academic goal(s) Naples EL has set to improve student performance with School LAND Trust money. Please describe specifically what part of the goal is being supported by School LAND Trust money, if addressing goal(s) will use additional funds. Be certain that these narratives and the Financial Proposal agree.
|
| |
The School Goals are to have 78% of students achieve profienciey on the state
core test in Math and 83% in language arts.
Enhancing reading and language usage are our main academic goals.
We want all students to achieve a minimum of one year growth as measured by
NWEA.
We will facilitate professional learning communities within our school while at
the same time
increase the well being of our students through the hiring of a P.E. or art
specialist.
We will also hire a computer specialist to create time for teachers to meeting
in PLC teams.
PLC teams spend their time going over student data derived from various sources
thorughout the year, including but not limited to common assessments, core test,
NWEA tests and math and reading unit test. We also will use the money to augment
our lower leveled library within individual classrooms. |
| |
Planned Steps:
Describe in detail the steps Naples EL will take to reach each goal. Describe specific actions (Hire a remediation reading teacher, purchase microscopes for AP Biology class, provide professional development to improve writing instruction) that will be taken to achieve the goal. In short, please provide a road map to success. Be sure to identify any actions described in the planned steps that will be funded with revenue other than School LAND Trust. If you will be spending funds for professional development, please describe the planned training and how it supports the goal and academic area of focus. Please specifically explain what the funds will be used for (tuition for the course, travel, substitute teachers).
|
| |
In order to facilitate this we will hire a computer speicialist and PE or art
speicialist which will allow time for our teachers to work together in PLC
teams. Professional training books and supplemental reading and math materials
will be purchased. We will enhance our leveled library books within individual
classrooms. We will purchase the online DIBELS component to track our student
reading progress @ $1.00 per student. We will purchase and pilot at the fourth
grade level, Stepanie Harvey\'s comprehension toolkit. We will partially fund
sending teachers to the national PLC conference, (the district will also fund).
We will purchase reading materials from the National Reading Styles Institute.
|
| |
Measuring Progress toward goals:
Which beginning and ending specific quantifiable measurements is Naples EL going to use to measure progress towards each goal? The same beginning and ending measurements (test scores, number of library books checked out, informal teaching assessment, etc) must be used so results can be compared. What is the target to be achieved? How to enter a chart or table.
|
| |
We will use the NWEA as our main assessment tool. Our goal is to be above the
50th percentile in the nation in growth.
We will use the Fountas and Pinnell benchmark assessment system in the first
grade.
We will use the Rigby assessment system.
We will use DIBELS assessment system. We will use assessments from what we have
learned from.
We will use the assessments from Stepanie Harvey comprehension toolkit.
We will use the inventory assessment from the National Reading Styles
Institute.
We will need to cover substitutes as teachers attend inservices or visit other
classrooms.
|
| |
Plans for expenditures of increased distribution:
The 2009 - 2010 distribution is an estimate. If the actual distribution is more than the estimate, how will the school expand progress towards the goals described in the plan, with an increased distribution? Please provide an adequate explanation of academic use so that it will not be necessary to go back to the school board for approval to expend an increased distribution. Please be aware it is not likely that schools will see the kind of increases as in recent years, but some increase is possible.
|
| |
We would like to purchase handheld microphones for student use to augment our
Audio Enhancement classrooms @ $200.00 a piece.
Any additional funds will be spent to purchase additional books and materials
to support teaching
and learning in the area of reading/language arts. We will also consider
additional tools and
training materials in the reading and math areas.
|
| 4. |
The School LAND Trust plan should be an academic subset of the school improvement plan/strategic plan. How does this plan relate to the school improvement plan/strategic plan? |
| |
The school improvement plan addresses the same area of reading and language
arts. |
